Energy savings as a reward for implementing StrionAir

A cornerstone of StrionAir technology is the ability to achieve high filtration performance with very low static pressure drop burden on HVAC fans.

StrionAir systems have saved customers millions versus the alternatives — the higher pressure drop penalties of traditional filtration, or even air handler replacements to accommodate those pressures.

Lifecycle savings for energy reduction and extension of filter replacement cycles alone — ignoring all the other benefits of StrionAir products — yield paybacks of two to four years.

Upgrade to MERV 13 without breaking the bank

No energy penalty

Converting an existing building from MERV 8 can be very expensive in terms of additional fan energy required to move air through the denser media of a traditional mechanical MERV 13 filter. Field observations from actual attempts to upgrade demonstrate this very graphically — fans running at up to 60% greater power.

No air handler upgrades

In the same situation, the variable frequency drive with MERV 13 was running at 95% capacity. And, with restricted airflow, it was running an additional four hours a day in the morning start-up periods. Practical implementation of MERV 13 would require upgrading the air handlers, a very expensive proposition.

Even at MERV 15, StrionAir products reduced energy and reduced the burden on air handlers.

Save — or improve — your EnergyStar rating

EnergyStar ratings are an important measure of the energy efficiency of a specific building.

The "MERV 13 penalty" for a 350,00-square-foot building in Houston, TX constitutes 2.3 kiloBTU per square foot per year. For an Energy Star rating of 75 (the minimum to receive the Energy Star itself), the building would need to achieve 59.6 kiloBTU per square foot per year. The impact of traditional MERV 13 is, therefore, a whopping 4%.

With a total of 10 LEED-EB points available for increasing Energy Star rating levels, implementing MERV 13 for a point could mean losing an energy point!
